Collection Description
Newark's Business and Industrial Coordinating Council (BICC), at 46 Branford Place, was established in 1963 to address inequities in job opportunities (especially apparent in the predominantly white work force then constructing the new Barringer High School and in major building projects on the Rutgers-Newark campus), and unemployment among minority groups. Among the early leaders of the BICC were Peter V. R. Schuyler of United Way, K. Wade Bennett and Charles W. Garrison of Bamberger's, and Derek T. Winans. <span class="highlight_word">Kennethspan> A. Gibson was co-chair of the Community Affairs Committee.

Box 1: contains drafts of a history of the BICC (1973); a file labeled "Task Force"; training and personnel manuals; certificates; bylaws; budgets; minutes, etc. (ca. 1967-1973)

Box 2: contains 6 binders of material labeled Executive Director's Report (1970-1972); Executive Committee Minutes (1970-1975); Minutes (1970-1973); Programs (1970-1973); Computer Match (1971-1972); and Finance and Budget (1971-1972)
